S.H.A.R.P. TALK

On Monday, August 8th, 2011, at 7 pm, Christopher Fulkerson will give a “SHARP Talk” introduction to his instrumental, vocal, and dramatic work.    The venue will be the S.H.A.R.P. Meeting Space, which is located behind 1736/1738 Ninth Avenue between Moraga and Noriega Streets in San Francisco.   He will first present an overview and musical pieces of his work-in-progress called THE FESTIVAL, consisting of dozens of pieces organized into a “Cycle of Epicycles” on various literary and spiritual themes ranging from sources as disparate as Wyndham Lewis, Ray Bradbury, Dante, and Michelangelo, to an iconic progress through the Modern era.

Following this Dr. Fulkerson will outline the scenario he has written for his opera THE NUERNBERG TRIAL, giving an idea about the nature of the piece, and reading the text for one of the principal “Set Pieces” of the opera, JUSTICE JACKSON’S SPEECH.

All are invited to hear these musical and librettistic excerpts and engage the composer in discussion afterwards.
